EPOXY FLOOR PROCESS

FLOOR PREPARATION

The first step in epoxy flooring is creating a proper work surface. Diamond grinding and shot blasting the existing concrete create a smooth surface. If there are any cracks or holes I will expertly patch them. It is important to have a well prepared floor so the epoxy binds well.

EPOXY PRIMER

The next step is to apply a water based epoxy primer. Primer is the base coat for epoxy and provides excellent adhesion to the concrete. It also helps remove any minor imperfections that remain and creates a flat surface.

EPOXY APPLICATION

The actual epoxy product is then meticulously applied to the floor. Several techniques may be used depending on the type of epoxy floor chosen. Metallic pigments, flakes, and solid colors are available. A final top coat consisting of either polyaspartic or polyurethane is applied to complete the process.

CONCRETE PROCESS

SITE PREPARATION

The first step in concrete is to prepare surface. A solid base is essential for concrete work. Existing grass and landscaping will be removed. The ground will be compacted and sloped for application. Forms will then be created and out in place based on the type of concrete project.

CONCRETE POUR

Typically a concrete truck will deliver the concrete to your home. The material will be poured into the forms. Tools will be used to smooth and level the concrete. Any stamping or powder release colorant is done at this stage.

CUT AND SEAL

Concrete needs to rest and cure before it can be cut. Once it is hard enough a specialized saw will be used to make small cuts to prevent cracking. If acid staining is desired it will be applied at this point. The final step for all concrete is to apply a sealer.

CULTURED STONE PROCESS

SET UP

Stone is ordered and delivered to the property and the area is prepped. This includes removing any existing materials and setting up work stations. If needed, scaffolding will safely be installed and a shelter can be prepared for cold weather.

PREPARATION FOR STONE

A moisture barrier is applied to protect your home from water damage. Once the moisture barrier is installed wire mesh is attached to the home. This helps the stone adhere to the home.  A thin layer of mortar is applied over the mesh and allowed to dry.

STONE APPLICATION

I examine the stone and clean off any debris. Once the mortar has dried on the wire mesh I can begin to lay your stone. Finding the right stone for each spot is important; I ensure the completed project looks perfect. Once all of the stone has been laid, I grout in the stone joints and rake them back to give the stone a better profile.
